Alaska Airlines has begun construction of a $135 million maintenance hangar at Portland International Airport, boosting its Pacific Northwest presence.
The new 185,000-square-foot facility can service up to three narrowbody aircraft or two widebody jets at the same time.
Designed for Alaska and Hawaiian Airlines fleets, the hangar supports Airbus A330s and Boeing 787 Dreamliners with ease.
The project will ease maintenance pressure on Seattle-Tacoma Airport while improving flexibility across Alaska’s growing network.
More than 100 skilled jobs will be created, including roles for technicians, engineers, and aviation support professionals.
Alaska now operates over 130 daily departures from Portland and controls roughly one-third of all flights at PDX.
The investment strengthens Portland’s role as a key hub, supporting future growth, reliability, and expanded air services.
